THE 'H' FACTOR IN YORUBA SPOKEN ENGLISH is of two types, the omission and the insertion 'h' factors. The omission 'h' is the omission of an /h/ sound at the beginning of any word that start with an /h/ sound thereby beginning the pronunciation of such word from the 2nd or the next sound. Also, the insertion 'h' factor is the insertion of an imaginary /h/ sound at the beginning of any word starting with a vowel sound. These are mother tongue interference Yoruba language in English language.

There are specific English sounds that are missing in the different Nigerian languages and this affects spoken English negatively. In today's episode we looked at the Ibibio language and the /g/ sound which is missing and also how it is affecting the the Ibibios in their Spoken English.

These missing sounds are part of what causes poor pronunciation of English sounds among non speakers of English Language.
