Eve Eurydice speaks with feminist artist BB about giving meaning back to love, sex and gender relationships by redefining the magic of attraction, and by resisting the religiocultural assumption that women seduce men, or else by abstaining, Lysistrata-style, and becoming aromantic until we stop feeling that we are giving ourselves away. We discuss the value of being in the present moment instead of in a state of permanently delayed gratification, while abstaining from celebrity and corporate culture which uses the female body to sell products and which veils us in layers of transactional exchange that disconnect us from each other. We discuss women’s body image battles and the struggle women have to not dichotomize ourselves when sex ed consists of porn or silence. We argue for the practice of sexuality as a spiritual exchange of energy, and we brainstorm a life of radical honesty that would chip away at the lineage of secrets on which we are raised.
