Speakin my language

Good ol Webster:

1a(1) : strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties maternal love for a child. (2) : attraction based on sexual desire : affection and tenderness felt by lovers After all these years, they are still very much in love.

1. Keeping the love tank full

Everyone needs love and they need it in a way they can understand.聽 We all have a primary language and if someone doesn't speak it, they don't know what we mean.聽 Was there ever a time that we thought we were doing something amazing, but it wasn't received the way we thought?

2. Falling in love infatuation

Electrical shock, we find it on our quest. You wanna have a hamburger with that person, then if that goes well, we want even more hamburgers.

We think that it will last forever!聽 But, "in love" has a quick expiration date.聽 After that you get your feet on the ground, "in love" falls away and shoes don't take themselves to the closet and drawers don't close themselves. Love grows out of reason and choice. It's not until the euphoria is over that real love starts.

3. Words of Affirmation, appreciation, confirmation.聽 We need to feel appreciation, even for the little things.聽 Don't mess up your today's with yesterday's.聽 Kind and Humble words to lift each other up. We are adults partners and it's important to love each other in the right way. Confirm worth in your requests, not demands. Make them think there is a choice

4. Quality time.聽 Focus on each other, undivided attention without distraction, especially kids.聽 Date your spouse! Do fun stuff together, even if you don't like that thing, like it because it's聽 together. Don't bitch about things that you don't like if it's not your thing. Prioritize your time.聽 Just because you are in the same room, doesn't make us together.聽 Marriage is a relationship, only give advice if it's asked for. Communication should be focused around love, not problem solving.聽 Listen to understand.

5.聽 Gift giving, doesn't have to be expensive.聽 It can even be something that she needs, just making her or him feel that you are thinking about them.聽 It can even be free!

6. Acts of service.聽 Helping each other and being part of the team.聽 We may need to reverse the roll that our parents followed.聽 We tend to look at our parents, but chances are, our spouse grew up in a different type of home.聽 "See the nag as a tag" a nice reminder that they are needing something.

7.聽 Touch! Not all touches are created equal, learn the touch language of your spouse.聽 Touch that brings pleasure to one, might not bring love to another.聽 Sex!
