Andy Jenks, the chief communications officer for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, joins 97.9 The Hill News Director Brighton McConnell on Monday, July 14. He shares how the district was called into action after Tropical Depression Chantal’s severe weather, with Smith Middle School activated as an emergency shelter, as well as what damage some of the campuses suffered. Jenks also details this week’s meet-and-greet sessions with new Superintendent Rodney Trice, which are set for Tuesday and Thursday in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. To round out the segment, he updates listeners on a vacant Board of Education seat, new student enrollment opening soon and an updated cell phone policy for the upcoming school year.
