SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE HELPS US CONNECT

When another person has gone through something similar as us, we feel like we "speak the same language."

The experience feels known to us.

We understand, we get it.

It’s easier to feel like the conversation flows.

This shared language makes it easier to feel like we can have a deep connection.

The problem is that for those of us who have experienced trauma, we often have a difficult time finding that in our relationships.

Most of the people we know don’t speak that language because they’ve never experienced it (and we wouldn’t want them to).

So they can’t relate.

It can be frustrating.

It can make us feel alone.
