SPEARFINGER (Children's - 227 Treehouse Lane Theater)

Listen Later

An evil witch terrorizes an entire Cherokee village and no one has ever been able to stop her. One day Indian braves dig a deep hole along a path she is known to use, hoping she will fall into it, never to be seen again. But even that seems to fail. The witch is known as Spearfinger because of her long, bony finger that can spear little children! Now, she uses that frightening finger to cut the ropes that were meant to capture her. Finally, when it seems she has foiled them once more, a tiny little bird, called a Chickadee, fearlessly conquers the cruel woman, thus saving the day and the lives of everyone in the village. Esther Luttrell tells this tale that is based on a Cherokee legend. Sound effects and music compliment the production without overwhelming it.
