A lot of former New Jersey high school football players have been in a Super Bowl. Only a handful of them are quarterbacks.
Joe Theismann is one of them.
A product of South River High School, Joe went to Notre Dame where he was an All-American and an Academic All-American, as well as being in contention for the coveted Heisman Trophy ( he would ultimately finish second to Jim Plunkett of Stanford).
A three-year career in the Canadian Football League was followed by twelve years in the NFL which included a pair of Super Bowl appearances.
Joe and Jim Monaghan talk about college football and the impact of the transfer portal and NIL money, and how much of a nearly year-round sport the NFL has become.
He is also participating in the upcoming 2026 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship taking place in July in Nevada.
