IMSA Sebring 12 Hour Winner Sebastian Bourdais is a longtime Friend of the Freaks dating back to when he was winning four straight CART championships from 2004-2007. His win at Sebring Saturday came with fellow French drivers Tristan Vautier and Loic Duval. The win was Bourdais' second after he won in 2015. NHRA Gainesville Pro Stock Bike Winner Matt Smith set aside his work in his shop to talk with The Freak Nation Sunday night. The Lucas Oil sponsored rider won the Gatornationals in Gainesville for the second straight season. Smith talked about a number of things including his his breathing affects his 200 MPH runs down the drag strip and the new parameters he must overcome to keep his bike at the head of his class. Supercross rider Aaron Plessinger has fought for two years to get to the front of the line in the 450cc class. But it started to click last weekend in Daytona where he got on the podium. Saturday night in Arlington, Texas Plessinger doubled down on that success with a top five finish. He's in the top ten in points midway through the season and, after two tough years in the featured class, Aaron is happy for some breakthroughs. NHRA Gainesville Top Fuel Winner Josh Hart is the first driver since 2001 to win Top Fuel in his professional debut. “Never in a million years would I have thought this was going to happen,” said Hart. “I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time." In fact, Hart was supposed to make his pro debut last year but the pandemic killed that idea. Instead, Josh and his wife started their own team and Sunday night that looked like a great idea. NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin had a very fast race car Sunday in PHoenix. He led 33 laps but the last restart saw him fall off to eventual winner Martin Truex, Jr. Hamlin finished third at the Checkered Flag. But strong finishes earlier have Denny leading the Cup Series points despite not have a win so far. "We will go home and figure out to be better, and tweak on it. This is just unbelievable. This past week his Stewart Haas Ford team added Pit Boss Grills to the side of the car. It's the definition of synergy.
