Are you looking to better understand depression and how to help the ones you love that are suffering from depression? In this episode we had the pleasure of talking with Zach Toonstra. Husband of Heather Toonstra and father of two kids. Heather was our guest on Episode 7!
Not only does he talk about growing up with a parent who suffered from depression, but how that experience helped him understand what Heather and their family needed. He talks about his military background, work/life balance, taking time off, and the relationship he has with his coworkers and how much they helped, too.
"Teamwork" is a major word used in their marriage and it shows!
Depression is a mental health illness and it doesn't look or act the same in everyone and we know that support doesn't always look the same either. We also cover what to say and what to avoid saying to someone struggling with depression.
As always, there's a blooper reel at the end!
