Spin The Bottle - Spin the Bottle Podcast

Yes. It actually happened. Donald Trump is the President-elect of the United States of America. No. You are not in the Twilight Zone. Although, if you are anything like us, this may be pretty close to your worst nightmare. Today, the show goes on but we are feeling ALL TYPES of ways…

Heartbreak. It's part of the human experience and no one is immune. The interesting part about that is, when it's YOUR heart that's broken, no one can convince you that you aren't entirely alone. The good news is, you will come out of it on the other side stronger and wiser. The bad news is, it's going to suck immensely for a while. We brought along four of our friends to talk this thing out. Yes. We brought out the cavalry just for you. This episode comes complete with jew-wels, poetic takeaways, cautionary tales, and a little Toni Braxton for good measure!

We even made a playlist called "All Heartbreak Matters" on Spotify (http://bit.ly/allheartbreakmatters) & Tidal (https://tidal.com/playlist/c3ec314b-2d4f-4e9d-b5bc-57a5fa885de6) for you guys to check out, complete with all of your votes for "go-to" songs when you are in your feelings.

Also, check out Will’s short film “Stages" on Issa Rae's YouTube Channel. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XARfdtGMUo)

We also suggest you check out "His and Hers" by Gabe Roland. You can find his music via all social media platforms at @TheGabeRoland. Check them out!

This Spin-Off is all about the words of the good Lord. We’re not members of the clergy by any means, but we know a few things about what Jesus definitely did and did not say. And honestly, it’s amazing what a quick google search can do. Though Dani will always stand by the notion that cleanliness is next to godliness….Lavender Fabuloso and scrubber in hand.

Age ain’t nothing but a number...a number that we struggle with all the damn time. Male or female, teen or early thirties, we all want to be elsewhere. Either we’re mad because we haven’t accomplished every goal on our list, or we wish we could go back....waaaaay back.... unless of course, we’re 12, then we just want to be 21! (Because NO ONE complains about that!) See what we mean? At Spin The Bottle, we don’t claim to have all the answers, but when it comes to loving the skin you’re in, our hard fast rule has become “Wherever you are, BE there”. Because that’s all the time you get anyway. No need to waste it on being miserable.

Enjoy this reflection on life and age. You’ll hear about best experiences, disappointments, and memorable lessons. Hopefully, it will inspire you to “shake the 'Etch-A-Sketch'” and do something that makes you happy.

Do you know the lyrics to all your favorite songs? No, really.  Every word? We thought we knew too, but once again, we found ourselves in a real recent revelation.  Listen as we uncover the true inspiration and lyrical connotation of a few classic tunes. Who knows, maybe "Uncle Jo Jo" was also a part of your Bone, Thugs & Harmony experience as well...

Have you found yourself in a creative rut? Not to worry, we have Brooks D. Proctor, founder of Square Bear, in the building to help us work a few of the kinks out. From pinky rings to peanut butter and jelly we’ve covered the full gamut in this conversation about how to unlock the je-wels from the right side of your brain. And we promise, there’s a little something in here for everyone because we happen to believe that creativity is an equal opportunist. So cue up your Pinterest page and let your inner artist loose. Haven’t you heard? It’s hip to be YOU!

Between grown men and flip-flops, elaborate kid birthdays, and selfies while “praying”, we still manage to be annoyed by something else. But obviously, we have our reasons. And we swear they are pretty good...

Well, kids. “To thine own self be true” is the moral of this story. If you love quiet, binging on Netflix and the sound of your own thoughts, you’re in good company. WE SEE YOU. Or if you’re confused by your boo or bestie’s occasional aloofness, or feel they need to “get out more”, you should definitely join us for this mini education on introversion—at least as we know it. Patience, extroverts, your time will come. It always does…

On this mini-spin, we take a more serious turn to discuss Black Lives Matter and the tragedies which took place over the summer. We would be remiss if we didn’t discuss it as it affected each and everyone of us in a multitude of different ways. Tune in for our take on what it felt like to navigate through and what we plan to do in order to be a part of the solution moving forward. Black Lives Matter. Our. Lives. Matter.

As we prepare to bid this Summer adieu, we take a moment to look back on the many highlights. There are so many moments that made our hearts pitter patter, but the general consensus is that we are currently crushing on all the Melanin Magic of this season. It’s a good look! So, with that being said, join us for a little Netflix reminiscing & chillin’ (the G-Rated kind) while we celebrate all the awesomeness that was this Summer!
