Spirit Katana finally returns. It has been an interesting couple of years and a time of a lot of changes and growth for the Hunterfield Clan. As we return we are going to a bi-weekly schedule and we have a new approach and added a host. Joining The Old Man, Big Mama, Jadefire, Ruby, and Rosella is Castle! We are also going through two books of the Bible this season: 2 Corinthians and Galatians that will alternate every episode. Jadefire and Ruby join The Old Man and Big Mama for 2 Corinthians while Rosella and Castle join them for Galatians.

It's the season finale of Spirit Katana! Jesus is put on the cross and when he dies AMAZING things happen and it even causes those who hung him up to realize that he must have been who he said he was. We talk about the life he led and that it was something to be noticed and, ultimately, that we really have nothing to fear as not even death could hold our savior down. In our penultimate episode of season 2 we draw closer to Jesus completing his purpose. Here we see Peter, who was called the rock, deny that he even knows Jesus. Then we run into failures in leadership, the dangers of being caught in a mob mentality, the people unknowingly prophesying Jesus washing our sins with his blood, and the cruel mocking Jesus endures from both religious leaders and the soldiers. We talk about lying, taking responsibility, and the Old Man's quirk with clapping.

We near the end of Matthew and that means then end of Jesus work for that time. He eats with his apostles, prays for the cup to pass but submits to God's will, and he faces arrest. Disciples are ready to fight for Jesus and yet flee when not allowed to by Jesus himself. Judas fails to recognize Jesus as more than a teacher and teacher and Peter fails to believe in Jesus when he suggests that he knows himself better than Jesus does. It is a bleak moment but do not worry, there is hope and a light is at the end of this tunnel.

We talk about fleeing the Abomination of Desolation, corruption in human governments, and how North Korea and Ohio are basically the same....or not. We also discuss how prophecies in the Bible are often fulfilled multiple times, usually shortly after the prophecy is made and then again later at least one more time. We also discuss trusting only in God, keeping an eye out for Jesus' return, and not relying on earthly things that will pass away. Some other topics included are not getting caught with your pants down (use the belt of truth!), that Jesus isn't a corpse but maybe a thief? and is there a contradiction in being generous in the parable of the ten women and their lamps and oil?

This week we talk a lot about trying to trap Jesus and how those that lay them are the ones that get caught. How Jesus does not allow man to dictate the available answers to questions as it doesn't have to be just an either/or. We also discuss love and how words cannot be used to define themselves.

Jesus is marching into Jerusalem and flipping some tables in Matthew this week. He also cursed a fig tree! Does Jesus have anger management issues? Or is there something more at play here? Is anger a sin? We also find Psalm 118 referenced more than once in these passages and we have a good discussion about crying, how we respond to it, and that it is ok to be sad. Oh, and, uh, don't do drugs.

We are taking the next couple weeks off from our podcast. One, Valentine's Day is a big deal for our family already and two, this year our family is expanding in that time frame and so we'll be a bit busy getting settles with the newest member. Then, after that, we only have a handful of episodes left until we finish up Matthew and Season 2 of our podcast. After the back to back seasons we will be taking a break for a while. Ideally, after a month or two, we'll bring once a month episodes and then likely get back to weekly in the fall.

As we continue our season of the Gospel According to Matthew, we run into topics such as divorce and what marriage is meant to represent, forgiveness: when to do it, how often and how to treat those that do not repent, being a person of your word, and someone threatens to tie up the Old Man and Big Mama! Also, thanks to many projects and appointments, Big Mama was not able to join this episode. And, on another note, there may be an interruption or two in the Spirit Katana schedule due to welcoming home the newest member of the family.
