To begin this weekend retreat, we consider various goals, using Jesus' words to the woman at the well as our theme.

In order to believe that someone loves us, we all look for "proof": actions that confirm what they say. After the Resurrection, Jesus wanted to preserve the wounds of his crucifixion. He wanted there to be visible, physical proof of his love without limits. To renew our belief in that love, we do well to join Thomas in contemplating them and in touching them.

Considering Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, we try to discover specific ways in which our friendship with Jesus can become more sincere and personal.

Our prayer today centres on the parable of the talents. We try to contemplate the great confidence that God has in us, and how this is expressed in the baptismal vocation that he entrusts us with, encouraging us to make it grow and multiply.
