The parable of the 10 virgins sounds like it could be humorous, but Jesus is actually talking about something pretty serious. In this parable, the “virgins” are us. Think of them as our equivalent of our modern day wedding party. Digging in, Jesus is talking through several parables all in one, pointing to His ultimate return. He is saying: be ready. Spiritual procrastination costs a significant price. Procrastination is putting off until tomorrow what needs to be done today. When you procrastinate, there is always a price.
