In this beautiful talk, Sant Kirpal Singh (1894 - 1974) shares how his life changed from the moment he met his spiritual Master, Baba Sawan Singh. He speaks about the criteria for recognising a true Master and how a sincere seeker can find one, up to the motto: 'The Guru appears when the Chela (the soul) is ready'
Born into a Sikh family, Sant Kirpal Singh had a deep love for God from childhood. Each day, he would read one hymn from the Sikh scriptures as a daily lesson. The Sikh tradition emphasises the importance of the company of someone who knows God - a Guru, Master or spiritual Teacher. Through a profound study of different religions, he realised that 'if you want to find God, you have to sit at the feet of someone who has seen God'.
After years of searching and meeting all kinds of spiritually awakened people, he found his spiritual Master, Baba Sawan Singh, who was living in Beas, in the north-western Indian state of Punjab. Under his guidance, he experienced the inner Light and the Music of the Spheres, as well as a deep understanding of the scriptures.
The lecture was held on 24th January 1964 in Washington, D.C., USA.
