Today we‟re going to continue with our reflections on the passion of Christ episode 5; the trial before Pilate from the Gospel of St. John 18:28-40. Pilate‟s cowardice and indecision cause him to yield to pressure and commit the injustice of condemning to death a man he knows to be innocent. Today let's pray for those who suffer unjustly.
Today we continue with our reflections on the passion of Jesus Christ episode 4; Peter‟s denial of Jesus. Being sorrowful for our sins is one of the steps towards conversion. But what do we do next when we feel sorrowful for our sins? When we realize we‟ve sinned, let‟s not start seeking consolation from the devil telling him; “I have sinned in betraying innocent blood.” For sure the devil will tell us; “What is that to me? Look to it yourself”. Then we‟ll fall into despair. Instead, let‟s seek consolation from Our Lord
Today, we continue with our reflection on the passion of Christ episode 3; Jesus before the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin had already decided to convict him; they just wanted to gather evidence to do it...We would have all along been wishing that Our Lord would stand up for Himself and show them that this whole trial was a mockery, but Jesus remained silent. Why? Because he loves us and he is willing to die for us. His focus is on the cross. Today Let's also put our focus on the cross, especially during this time of holy week.
Today, we meditate on the arrest of Jesus and we see how the disciples dispersed and left Jesus alone. Judas, in his stubbornness and greed, rejects God‟s grace and he decides to betray his closest friend with a kiss. We resolve today to accept the grace which God offers us and be restored to glory through penance and mercy.
In today's reflection, we see Jesus coming to the apostles for the third time. Despite telling them over and over again to stay awake and pray, the apostles still go ahead sleeping. St. Luke tells us that they were sleeping for grief/sadness. Today we resolve to always seek consolation from Our Lord Jesus Christ whenever we're faced with grief.
Today we reflect on the Gospel of St. Luke 22:43-44 on how Jesus was in agony and he prayed fervently to the extent that his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground. Then an angel comes to comfort Our Lord. Today let's resolve to have recourse to our guardian angels and to ask them for favors when we are also weighed down with such emotions.
Today we reflect from the gospel of St. Matthew whereby Jesus comes the second time only to find the apostles asleep. After several warnings, he decides to leave them asleep and he goes back to pray repeating the same words; *“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me. Yet not my will, but yours be done”. (Matthew 26:44). Today, let us resolve to examine our quality of prayer as well as to keep watch with him in prayer.
Today's reflection is from the gospel of St. Matthew where Jesus finds his disciples asleep. He warns them to keep watch and pray so that they may not fall to test. We resolve to do penance so that the devil might not use the weakness of the flesh to blunt the eagerness of the spirit, as he did to the apostles.
In this episode, we reflect from the Gospel of St. Matthew whereby Jesus singles out the three apostles to accompany him in the garden. We learn the importance of humility and submissiveness to God's will.
In this reflection, we realize how critical prayer is in our lives if we want to be imitators of Christ. We see Jesus Christ immersing himself in intense prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane
