May 07, 2019Son Of Trickster- Episode 3Thank you again to Robin for commissioning this whole book! The way this story is set up employs one of my favorite tropes, which is going backward and then forward again in the story, to slowly tease out a series of events so that we are only equipped with bits and pieces of information at any given time. This method of storytelling has always been absolutely gripping to me, and I really like it for this particular book because there are so many supernatural revelations mixed in with ordinary life events and moments. I have to say that on top of everything that we find out about Jared's past and all the horrible also like him...somehow. I like knowing he has company. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!...more1h 7minPlay
May 06, 2019Deadwood, S02E08- Childish ThingsMany thanks to Patrick for commissioning this episode! Okay so this episode is full of pretty intense encounters, but the most intense one of all has to be the one between Martha and Alma. I'm not exactly sure what Alma is getting at, but I think Martha suspects that she's pregnant? And is trying to get her to admit it? Whatever the case, it's a tense conversation that results in Alma going head to head with Isringhausen to let off some steam, which is a bad move. There's also the kind of cute thing with Nuttal getting his bicycle, and I'm grateful for the distraction from all the murder and betrayal. Thanks, Tom. Enjoy the episode!...more1h 2minPlay
May 05, 2019Veronica Mars, S02E07- Nobody Puts Baby In A CornerWow. So, this is a really strange episode and while I liked it, I sure didn't see this coming at all. I'm totally worried about Meg now and even though I kinda hate her I'm feeling like maybe there's something more going on. Many many thanks to Jacqui for commissioning this episode, and for also commissioning a live watch on Facebook so that everyone could hang out with me while I sat there gobsmacked. Also can I just say how totally unprepared I was for Sheriff Lamb to be a good guy in this episode? Since when? I loved this so much. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new one!...more1h 4minPlay
May 05, 2019The Obelisk Gate- Episode 1Many thanks to Jason for commissioning the first episode of the next book in the Broken Earth trilogy, The Obelisk Gate! Many apologies for how late I am in posting this, but switching computers really held up my routine and I'm trying gamely to catch up. And these chapters were totally bananas and I'm really freaked out at the fact that we're going to get POV chapters from a guardian because they're frankly terrifying. I'm super excited about getting into the rest of this story. Thank you so much for listening, and I will be seeing you in a couple weeks with a new episode!...more1h 11minPlay
May 05, 2019Son Of A Trickster- Episode 2Many many thanks to Robin for commissioning this entire book up front! I'm so thrilled to get further into the world of Son Of A Trickster. First off, Robin sent me a long email with a ton of really fascinating information pertaining to the neighborhood and culture that Jared lives in, so I hope you will all indulge me as I read through that to give everyone who is unfamiliar (read: most of us) an idea of where our protagonist is coming from. Also, WHAT IS JARED THO????...more1h 6minPlay
May 05, 2019Deadwood, S02E07- E.B. Was Left OutMany thanks to Patrick for commissioning this episode! As we get further into Season 2, there's a lot of moving parts coming into play now that everyone is becoming aware of what happened at the Chez Ami. While E.B. is pissed off at not being allowed to join in the big meeting, but Al wisely decided that the little rat couldn't be trusted with this information about Francis Wolcott. I'm also really enjoying seeing Cy this uncomfortable. Thank you for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!...more1h 3minPlay
April 10, 2019Veronica Mars, S02E06- Rat Saw GodOh my god, Y'all. Jacqui is going to kill me when she hears the intro to this episode, because she commissioned an episode from the densest podcaster who ever lived and she's going to want her money back. IT WAS A RAT TAPED UNDER THE BUS SEAT. I JUST GOT IT. I AM AN IDIOT. Thanks for listening!...more1h 3minPlay
April 10, 2019Deadwood, S02E06- Something Very ExpensiveHey there everyone! Let's all thank Patrick for commissioning this episode! I'm so delighted that this episode handled Francis Wolcott's "preferences" so well by not making me sit through some sick scene like I had feared. I can deal with simple murder much better, and although it's truly horrifying that three women are dead at his hand, I have to say I'm just glad that Joanie makes it out alive. I hope that is a trend that continues. Alma is dealing with her pregnancy as best she an, but there's no way to keep word from leaking out when she vomits in front of Sol and Ellsworth. I'm hoping the convos these two have stay secret because I'm not interested in watching Alma get torn down by this camp. And Miss Isringhausen better not pull any shit, either. Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!...more1h 3minPlay
April 09, 2019The Grace Of Kings- Episode 17Thank you to Kyle for commissioning another episode covering The Grace Of Kings! I'm so happy that i get o dive back in again so soon. Heh. You see what I did there? Dive? Because this is basically a naval battle? Damn I'm good. No but seriously I really enjoyed this section. There's a million things going on regarding the takeovers of smaller states and the changing hands that rule them, but Mata decides that he's going to try and deal with that petty bullshit instead of looking at the real threat, which is obviously Kuni. I feel pretty smug about that, until Mata does turn his attention to Kuni, and then it goes so damn well that I'm disgusted. Dammit, Mata, you choose now to get clever?...more1h 3minPlay
April 09, 2019Sabriel- Episode 3Many thanks to Abbey for commissioning another episode of Sabriel! I'm excited to be getting into the main body of this book, and I'm totally thrilled to be adding a magical cat to the mix. Turns out that Mogget isn't really a cat, which we get to see firsthand when Sabriel takes his collar off later. I'm not at all sure what Mogget really is, but I guess there's no point in guessing since he tells us himself that he's multiple things. I'm really feeling for poor Sabriel in this section because she's hardly getting space to breathe between crises. At least she gets a hot bath (kind of) and a soft bed for one night, but homegirl could probably have done with a week of rest after what she's gone through. Thank you all so much for listening, and I will be seeing you soon with a new episode!...more1h 2minPlay
