Text Form:
(I noticed the mood of the village was particularly rowdy when the beggars were nowhere to be seen and a crowd of people formed by the pillory. Shouts of “witch, witch, witch” were spat on the naked women in a cage on the lifted platform. I’d imagine this woman probably scorned the wrong wife of a man she’s seduced, but as I gazed at the pale face of the blonde woman in the cage, she looked at me with green piercing eyes.
I could feel she wasn’t entirely human. This piqued my interest, I quickly whispered a spell of invisibility under my breath and the naked woman in the cage disappeared. The crowd went still and I yelled “Satan took her back!” and the crowd cheered and dispersed with curious and weary eyes. The guard by the cage opened the door and with a frown, he scratched his head and closed it again.
Through the silhouette of the spell I cast, I could see her form move through the alley out and away from the pillory. I followed suit as a wall of merchants unaware began to lose a few items as she took a robe here and some shoes there. I uncasted the spell as she wrapped a shawl around her unruly hair. And as if she could sense it, she turned and looked right at me. The gratitude in her nod pulled at my chest, she walked towards me. I pointed toward an empty alley, and she followed me away from the busy market square.
As soon as we entered the empty alley we both in union said, “What are you?”. Her voice like a soft but sharp whistle of wood flutes, nearly harmonized to my high growl of an echo on a windy mountain. She studied my face and smiled as her eyes blinked and the second layer of skin that resembled green human eyes, lifted up and over and revealed dark yellow and black slit pupils as her tongue stretched before me and rattled beside my cheek. I couldn’t help but to feel my heartbeat quicken again but now faster than before. I thought to myself, “she’s a half breed”. I should have been more afraid but for some reason, this excited me. Her tongue recoiled back and spoke, “Now you show me yours”.
I knew better than to show her the runes, but something about her candid character let me know I could trust her. I pulled back the sleeve of my arm to show my wrist and I whispered the name of my clan, “Joonmak”. The invisible symbol of my clan's rune appeared on my wrist with three interconnected circles and then quickly faded. Her mouth almost dropped open saying, “your a druid”. I nodded and asked, “How did you get caught as a witch?”. She winked at me and walked past as she cupped her hand at my groin hissing sweetly, “Wouldn’t you like to know.”
I thought back to my original notion, yes, she probably pissed off the wrong wife of a man she seduced.)
