Jay and I get to catch you all up on everything we have seen over the last few months before we get into the heavy themes of The Last Thing Mary Saw(available on Shudder) and my personal issues with queer rep in horror over the last few years. This movie had some serious trigger warnings so avoid this episode if discussions involving SA, Homophobia, or Religious Trauma will be distressing to you.
Almost a year ago Jay and I sat down to record this episode for my birthday, and I am so happy to be sharing it with you. We watched what was definitely the best movie of 2020, Uncle Peckerhead. On our way to gush about Mel's thighs we also chat about being the only people who liked The New Mutants movie, rock/punk rock as a motif in horror, seeing our first movie in theaters in over a year, and how we (still) haven't seen Promising Young Women.
We are decked out in our shortest shorts and our t-shirts with our names screen printed across our chest so that we can help you have a very gay Halloween. Grab your cousin and your bea and meet us in the rec hall for Sleepaway Camp 1984.
TW: mention of child abuse
As the title says It Comes At Night 2017 is all about vibes. Be that isolating vibes, covid prediction vibes, and just maybe homoerotic vibes. We do end up talking quite a bit about the parallels between the movie and covid so feel free to come back next week instead to hear our conversation on Childs Play 3.
We hope you enjoy this blast from our past!!! This episode was recorded before our hiatus and we are both so glad that people will finally be able to listen to it.. We chat about poorly named fast food items, running into your parents at the strip club, and the BDSM fantasy fever dream that is Hellbound: Hellraiser 2. We would love to hear what you think about Hellraiser 2 and any other movie we covered, if you want to share your take on us or the show you can tweet at us: @spooky_carver or shoot us an email at: [email protected] You can also follow Carver on TikTok @grey.spooky.gay
Where have we been? We'll we fell in a Hill hole and though we haven't quite crawled out of it yet we where able to find a way to podcast from inside of it. Jokes aside, we are so excited to get back to talking horror with you every week. In this episode we catch you up to what spooky shenanigans we have gotten into in Portland, OR and what sweet sweet media we have dulled our wits with. Make sure to join us next week to hear our thoughts on Hellbound Hellraiser 2.
As always if you have thought on how we could improve the pod, suggestions for what we should watch next, or have any horror related questions feel free to reach out to us by email: [email protected] or on twitter: @SpookyandGaywC1
We start this episode off strong with movie recommendations to bring a tear to your eye, which honestly turns into a Stand By Me fancast. We had a great time watching and chatting about Childs Play 2 this week and hope you brought your turkey carvers for this episode!!
We watched Jay's first franchise pick, 1987's Hellraiser. We talk about all the filthy, luxurious, and unexpected types of wetness the Cenobites have to offer as well as the feeling of walking down the horror aisle as a kid, halloween haunted houses, and how surprisingly sexy Flash Gordon is.

TW: Brief Threat of Sexual Assault
We are trying something a bit new by covering a couple of franchises with LGBTQIA+ creators: Child's Play and Hellraiser. We will be going one for one every other week until we finish both series. We watched a lot of movies this week so tune in for a brief discussion about Willy's Wonderland (2021), Cooties (2014), His House (2020), Sightless (2020), and The Cleansing Hour (2019) as well as a full recap of 1988's Child's Play. What do you think of this tot sized slasher?
