Coach, co-author, and creator: meet Kirsten Cummings
When it comes to stories of rising above challenges and being a truly amazing athlete, boy do we have one for you! On the show next is Kirsten Cummings: an outstanding athlete and accomplished coach. Born deaf, Kirsten began playing sports at an early age, soon grew to be 6’3” in height and her athleticism took off! Kirsten played two years on the US National Team and played professionally for 14 years. Kirsten has both coached and played all over the world, earning gold and silver medals as a coach, and receiving countless honors as a player. She has even done sailing as an accomplished Yachtswoman!
Now, interested in senior athletics, Kirsten is co-authoring a book on senior health and sports, and co-creating an organization called the National Senior Athletes Association (NSAA). In 2010 she founded and ran the National Senior Women’s Basketball Association (NSWBA), a non-profit organization to help provide a place for senior women to play basketball and improve their game.
Her story is one of fortitude and persistence, rising above a challenge that most of us do not have to face. Join us and be inspired by this champion-like woman!
