With the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games just days away, the showcase competition  has been overshadowed by events taking place in Ukraine. With news breaking of the 15 year old Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva having failed a drugs test but being allowed to carry on competing in Beijing by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, it was an opportune moment to get Samaranch to share his thoughts on the decision by CAS.

One of the most respected and experienced leaders within the Olympic Movement, Gunilla Lindberg is the Secretary-General of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). In this episode of the Sport Intern Special podcast, Gunilla talks to us from the Beijing Winter Olympics. She tells us that even though there are limited numbers of fans at venues the atmosphere is still one to savour. She also reveals that despite her country Sweden failing to host the Winter Games in 2026, the Swedes are a nation of fighters and will not give up the dream to hold the Winter Olympics in the future!

He talks to us about the importance of the Winter Games in China, about expanding winter sports worldwide, the future of GAISF and retells a funny tale about a promise that he undertook at the Nagano Winter Olympics in 1998.
