A huge topic of conversation especially in our current climate revolves around mental well-being. We know at some point teams and individual athletes will encounter some sort of obstacle whether that is sickness, injury, team cohesion issues, personal issues and so on. On today’s podcast we talk with a professional in the field to gain a better understanding on what critical incidents are, how they impact mental well-being, discuss some common characteristics between teams/athletes that handle critical incidents in a positive manner, and provide different tools for athletes and coaches to utilize when overcoming different obstacles.
Dr. Boyer currently works at Northwest Performance Psychology in Seattle Washington as a licensed sport psychologist and certified sport psychology consultant. Dr. Boyer is committed to increasing the performances, experiences, and well-being of athletes, teams, coaches, executives, and other performers. Her objectives are to help maximize potential, increase resilience, foster authenticity, develop a present oriented approach to life and activities, and increase coping for optimal well-being and mental health.
