Scott reviews the Montreal Victoire’s six-player draft class as the defending Walter Cup champions prepare for the 2026-2027 PWHL season.
The episode also includes updates on the Toronto Blue Jays’ American League wild-card race, the inaugural WPBL playoff format, and upcoming Sports for Beginners coverage.
In this episode:
Montreal enters the 2026-2027 season as the first Canadian team to win the Walter Cup and the defending PWHL champions.
The Victoire held one selection in each round, drafting 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th, 60th, and 72nd overall.
Montreal’s first-round selection was forward Petra Nineman from Tampere, Finland.
The second- and third-round additions were forward Avi Adam from Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and Zoe Erns from Belleville, Ontario.
Montreal selected goaltender Haley McLeod in the fourth round at 48th overall, a pick Scott particularly liked.
Defenseman Erica Reeder of Regina, Saskatchewan, was selected 60th overall in round five.
Montreal’s final pick was forward Emilie Lavoy from Quebec City, Quebec.
Scott believes the Victoire could have been more aggressive in the second and third rounds, but sees value in adding a goaltender in round four.
The Toronto Blue Jays moved into the American League’s final wild-card position after beating Kansas City and a Cleveland loss to Detroit.
The WPBL postseason will feature best-of-three semifinals followed by a best-of-five championship series.
