The battle for a playoff spot between the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders and the Florida Panthers is heating up and with so much on the line for the Penguins including a chance to increase their longest playoff streak of 16 straight seasons of post-season hockey.

I'm back in the studio to recap a milestone day in Detroit Michigan for the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby as he becomes the 15th player in NHL history to record 1,500 points but not only his is the 15th player in NHL history but his is also the 6th fastest player in NHL history to do it but I'm also back in the studio to recap a 5-1 victory for the Penguins as they defeated the Detroit Red Wings in Motown on Saturday afternoon.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have just one more home game after this one on Thursday against the Wild and that comes on next Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 against the Blackhawks but they only have two more road games in Detroit on Saturday afternoon against the Red Wings and then next Thursday night in Columbus against the Blue Jackets..

The Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils fought hard in the final meeting of this 4-game season series and with just 4 games left in the season after this game on Tuesday night in Newark New Jersey at Prudential Center, the New Jersey Devils have already secured a spot in the playoffs with the Penguins just only 1 point ahead if the Florida Panthers for the 2nd wildcard spot and just 1 point behind the New York Islanders it is quite certain to the Penguins and the Panthers that they need 2 points "CRUCIALLY!" if they want any chance of making the postseason this year and for the Islanders it's time to step things a notch when they play the Tampa Bay Lighting on Thursday night.

I'm back in the studio to break down all of the action as the Penguins look for a "CRUCIAL!" 2 points and at least one win out of the 3 loses they surrendered in the last 3 meetings in Pittsburgh and Newark.

Lots is on the line but the more "CRUCIAL!" thing for all of these 3 teams not including the New Jersey Devils is that they desperately need a win if they want to stay in the race for the playoffs.

Thomas and I are back in studio to recap the Toronto Raptors 120-100 victory over the Charlotte Hornets as they prepare for the final games of the season including two in Boston at 7:30pm and then one against Milwaukee and meanwhile the Hornets are looking to rebound from the loss on Tuesday with a victory on Friday night against the Rockets before wrapping up their season in Cleveland against the Cavaliers.

Happy Kris Letang day on the Sports For Beginners podcast on this edition of the podcast I'm back in the studio with a very special recap edition of Penguins Post Game "Battle of Pennsylvania" as the Pittsburgh Penguins go to battle once again with the Philadelphia Flyers and got back into the playoffs for the moment with a 4-2 win over the Flyers and what makes this episode so special you ask?

Well tonight at PPG Paints Arena the Pittsburgh Penguins honoured defenseman #58 Kris Letang before the game and also despite the great ceremony the Penguins also had Bryan Rust "The Rusty Razor" who was playing in his career #500 NHL Game and I'm breaking it all down today on the podcast as Kris Letang becomes the 3rd Pittsburgh Penguins hockey player to reach the 1,000th game milestone and he is also the 381st player in NHL history to reach this unbelievable milestone.

The Blue Jays fall 9-4 to the St. Louis Cardinals and today on the podcast I'm back in the studio to break it all down from the first pitch to the end of the game with the starting lineups and starting pitchers, the line score, game stats and so much more plus we look at how the Pittsburgh Pirates did in their rubber match against the Cincinnati Reds before looking ahead to for the Blue Jays their 4 game series in Kansas City against the Royals and the Atlanta Braves who are coming to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals in a 3-game series before the Cardinals hit the road to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers.

The Toronto Raptors defeated the Charlotte Hornets and they look to do so once again on Tuesday night in Charlotte.

Thomas is back in the studio to break down the Raptors 128-108 win over the Hornets on Sunday night in Charlotte to clinch a spot in the play-in tournament to try to make the playoffs with the line score, top performers and much much much more.

It's gonna be a great show as we go down the stretch and into the play in tournament round as the Toronto Raptors continue to try and push for the playoffs.

Boston and Pittsburgh are both on the back end of a back-to-back and for the Penguins having been knocked out of the playoffs thanks to a 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins and a 7-0 shutout win by the Florida Panthers over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night the Penguins are in need of desperate points to keep their playoffs streak alive as they go to battle with the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at 6:00pm in Pittsburgh.
