Visma-Lease a Bike unveils a formidable lineup for the Vuelta a España, featuring Wout van Aert, Matthew Brennan, and Sepp Kuss. This squad aims to make a significant impact in Spain.
Wout van Aert returns to Grand Tour racing after a year away due to an elbow injury from a training crash. The Belgian powerhouse boasts seven victories this season, including Paris-Roubaix and two stage wins at Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. He targets stage wins and the green jersey, eyeing both hillier stages and the 9.4km time trial in Monaco.
Matthew Brennan, the 21-year-old sprint specialist, is also in the mix. He arrives with momentum from two stage wins at the recent Vuelta a Burgos and is well-prepared for both flat sprints and breakaway opportunities.
Sepp Kuss, the team’s primary GC contender and former Vuelta champion, seeks to balance his pursuit of a stage win while mentoring young Norwegian talent Jørgen Nordhagen, who is set for his first Grand Tour.
Rounding out the squad are seasoned riders Bruno Armirail, Christophe Laporte, and Ben Tulett, with 39-year-old Steven Kruijswijk serving as road captain in his final Grand Tour. The stage is set for an exciting Vuelta a España.
