FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 29, 2025

KENORA DEVIL’S GAP ISLANDERS SUSPEND PLAY

Ongoing Conflicts with the Executive Board of Governors

The Kenora Devil’s Gap Islanders regret to announce that we have been forced to suspend play until the situation is resolved due to ongoing conflicts with the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s (SIJHL) Executive Board of Governors. While this decision was not made lightly, it has become necessary to address these challenges and ensure the team’s future by working through league issues and actively continuing the process of finding a suitable buyer for the team.

The Islanders want to reassure players, parents, fans, volunteers, and sponsors that this is only a temporary pause. The organization remains committed to facilitating a smooth transition to new ownership, ensuring the team’s continued presence and contribution to the Kenora community.

“This is a difficult and disappointing situation for everyone involved. However, by addressing the league conflicts and finding the right buyer, we are confident the Islanders will return to the ice with renewed energy and determination.”

The Kenora Devil’s Gap Islanders deeply appreciate the unwavering support from players, families, fans, volunteers, and sponsors. Your dedication means everything to us, and we are focused on ensuring the team’s future success under new ownership.

Further updates will be provided on our official social media channels and website as we work through this matter and transition the team to its next chapter.
