Javier Sarmiento Jr is a 13-time scholarship winner, which is a Harlem record for scholarships.  He is a graduate of Buena Vista University with a degree in Digital Media and a graduate of Guttman Community College with a degree in Liberal Arts.  He is an award-winning journalist, writer, social justice advocate, and basketball enthusiast.   Sarmiento won first place in the collegiate sports writing category of the Robert L. Vann Media Awards for his article “The Impact and Influence of LeBron James.”   He was awarded the certificate of merit, which is given to students who contributed to collegiate journalism.  He is passionate about poetry as his Poem, ‘A voice from Harlem’ was awarded an Honorable mention in the rhyming poetry category in the 90th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition. 

About our interview he says viewers will learn “about the scholarship process including searching and applying for scholarships. One out of 10 people wins a scholarship and I won 13.”

In this Interview, I am discussing my background, how I won 13 scholarships, became an award-winning journalist, and am a first-generation college graduate with 2 degrees.

We talked about my passion for poetry as my Poem, ‘A voice from Harlem’ was awarded an Honourable mention in the rhyming poetry category in the 90th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition. Inform viewers about scholarships and how to avoid student debt.

In this episode, I discuss the amazing performance that Russell Westbrook of the Washington wizards had last night and why it shouldn't be taken for granted, Najee Harris, who was drafted to the NFL by the Pittsburgh Steelers and his story that can inspire and motivate anyone going through times. Lastly, Carmelo Anthony's movement up to the Top 10 scoring list of all time and why this is important.

The NBA regular season is almost at a close, so the standings is getting competitive.  The WNBA draft occurred a couple of weeks ago, so it is good to recap the teams that the players went to. The NFL Draft is April 29 and ends May 1st, so it will be good to see where the players go. 

This week had a lot of storylines from sports as a whole, and I want to update and break down the events, actions to everyone on the latest news that has occurred.
