Super Bowl 1 was the culmination of the NFL- AFL Merger of 1966 when the NFL agreed in principal to absorb the fledging American Football League. The total agreement , would be a game played between the two leagus for football supremacy. On January 15,1967, the Packers met the KC Chiefs in the first ever Superbowl, then called the AFL-NFL World Championship.
