“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” – Aristotle
This is an episode all about redemption. This redemption story started with support. And this conversation features Mental Health & Sports Performance Coach, Lisa Bonta Sumii sharing space with Marques Ogden. Marques is a former NFL player and now an inspirational keynote speaker.
Growing up in a single-parent home with a father that inspired perseverance and fairness, Marques Ogden learned how to define his values and set goals. Ogden attended Howard University from 1998 to 2002 where he played Division I football.
Ogden then followed his dream and his brother Jonathan’s footsteps, eventually getting drafted into the NFL in 2003. Overall, he played for five years as an offensive lineman with the Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Following his NFL career Ogden started Kayden Premier Enterprises, a construction company in 2007 which quickly escalated to being a multi-million dollar construction firm. But in 2013, it all crashed down around him when Ogden got involved with a bad business deal — he ended up losing everything.
Ogden became a speaker to help others succeed where he failed. As a keynote speaker, executive coach, and corporate trainer, his passion is to create value for every client. Ogden’s clients consist of AXA Advisors, The Home Depot, JP Morgan, and Chase, among others.

Web3 | So Many Questions! | A Podcast Series
Web3 is happening so fast—or at least that’s what it seems like. In actuality, there is time—a lot of time. It’s very early in the Web3 world (and as this guest says, we’re more in Web 2.5 than Web 3). It’s also very confusing (maybe because there are so many buzzwords or maybe it’s because there are a lot of people promising a bright future). I’d say it’s best to talk to those in the space. And that’s where this Web3 dialogue (podcast series) is coming from. It’s an opportunity to share space with those that have experience, stories, and proof of concept related to all things Web3. This episode just so happens to hone in on All Things NFTs.
Web3 & NFTs | Exploring and Discovering with It’s Probably Nothing Founder, Jordan Michael Schuster
So let’s learn about Web3 and the entire infrastructure including NFTs, Crypto, and the Metaverse. Let’s be open to it. I’m not one to suggest running out and buying a bunch of land in the Metaverse, but I would suggest paying attention to it, asking questions, and then seeing what interests you. The creativity and the opportunity got me. I hope this episode helps you understand it a bit more—or if you are already in the Web3 world, I hope this episode opens you into a new part of the community.

“The credit belongs to the ‘person’ who is actually in the arena”. -Theodore Roosevelt.
In this episode, I chat with Matt Doherty, North Carolina Tar Heel, former College Basketball Coach, and college basketball national champion.
While this conversation took place during the pandemic, the Tar Heels are making a visit to the 2022 Final Four, so we had to surface this episode and share more North Carolina Tar Heel stories as well as the many lessons learned on and off the hardwood. Matt Doherty tells stories of why he writes, why storytelling matters, bad losses, overcoming adversity, being pushed by the greatest of all time, playground basketball, his own faith, and much more.
Matt Doherty also has a new book out titled: Rebound: From Pain to Passion – Leadership Lessons Learned.
As Charles Barkley says, “Matt Doherty knows about rebounding on the court and in life. His journey and experiences are inspiring.”
