  • College Week 1, NFL Dollar$, Baseball Heating Up

College Football is back and though week one was lacking in marquee matchups, it wasn't lacking in stories. Dave & Shea run the analysis over the Oregon vs Auburn heartbreaker, discuss the other contenders for the year & their starts, the early Heisman talk, a little bit of Willie Taggart Schadenfraude (sorry, FSU fans), & talk about the Week 2 slate of games #statestouchrivalry.

We then roll onto some NFL talk, as the Ezekiel Elliot contract saga finally came to a conclusion mere hours before recording. Ramifications of that contract - as well as Jared Goff also getting a massive new deal at the Rams - with big guaranteed dollars involved, as well as how much Jerry Jones will leverage the future against his desire for a pre-deathbed Super Bowl. A bit of mindless NFL banter, (Bill Belichick might literally be the devil, and that's okay).

We finish with the big baseball stories as the race towards playoffs heats up. Yankees, Astros, wild wildcard races, Dodgers, Cubs vs Cardinals in the hottest pennant race. Which teams are best positioned to go all the way, the low-key moneyball A's are at it again, and why the Oakland teams divorce is ugly AF - https://www.complex.com/sports/2019/08/athletics-player-liam-hendriks-slams-golden-state-warriors

    Beers always recommended. Or tea.

  • #AUnitedFront, General MLS, Early European Footy Musings
Dave & Shea back at, trying to work out just what the hell is wrong with the MLS & the Timbers front office as the divide between fans & the MLS turns ugly over the Iron Front ban. We then turn our attentions to the actual on field product - where the Timbers are at this season, the battle for LA, & why Zlatan hasn't been the greatest for the league as he should. Ships then sail across the Atlantic as we hit the Premier League, with focus on our respective teams following the Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal match. We discuss the EPL, Champions League favourites, & which teams want which competition more. Finishing off with some banter as Shea gets used to his new environs for footy watching on the East Coast.
Grab your favourite footy watching beverage & hang out for a bit.

  • Luck-y Retirements, General NFL Thoughts, WTF Pac-12 9am?
Shea and Dave get around some NFL chat with the Andrew Luck retirement and the good, bad, and ugly reaction to it. Antonio Brown hating his helmets, Kansas City written off, the underlying racism as prevalent as ever, as well as general thoughts on the upcoming season. We brief some thoughts about the NCAA season coming up, and chat about the ridiculous plans to play a Pac-12 game at 9am Pacific Time. Grab a 6am tailgate beer and join us!

  • Anti-VAR, EPL Title Race, UCL, Ryan Gos-dammit w/ Vince
Vince on Pod this time with the Futty talk. We start with Vince joining Dave in Anti-VAR to fight the tyranny that VAR is bringing down on the wonderful game of football at the moment. Timbers struggles continue to be dissected, before we turn our attentions to the title race and try to reconcile a great Liverpool season regardless of if it ends up with a title, while also respecting the opponents that may just get it... almost. We chat a quick bit of Champions League before audio recording issues finally get the best of us.
It sounds good though. Chill with us.

  • Tiger #GOAT, NBA Playoffs, Aussie Vacation w/ Vince
Vince is back on the SG Pod with Dave following his trip down under. The lads marvel at the completion of a decade long redemption story from Tiger with his magnificent victory at Augusta, and talk of our memories of one of the great moments in sports. We then hit the NBA playoffs and a promising start to the Blazers hunt for the Larry O'Brien, as well as some of the other surprises in the early running (WTF, Lowry). Some brief MVP chat before we finish off with memories of Vince's first in-person experience of Australian Football and 'The Hill' at Adelaide Oval.

  • The AFL Show - Struggling Starts, Umpire Frustration, Tangents
Matt returns to the SG Pod to talk all things Aussie Footy with Dave. The struggling start to the year for both the Crows and Power is dissected, with props given to the influx of youth giving Port fans some hope for the future - as well as talking the futures of the respective coaches and some of the big names. We follow on with a look at the wider AFL picture and some of the surprise packets of the early running in 2019. Then the tangents begin as we discuss how the AFL can contend with video review and umpiring in the 21st century before deep diving into the AFL's culpability in some of the bigger scandals in the last 10-15 years. It's a good one - subscribe, rate, review.
    The AFL are pussies.

  • Warriors Apathy, Shitshow Lakers, Distracted Lebron, Blazers to the Finals.
Vince on Pod again with some NBA talk this time round. The Lakers shitshow that cannot be escaped is again targeted, this time discussing just exactly where the responsibility lies for the current woes - Magic, the ownership, or Lebron - as well as the negativity around what has been a pretty good statistical LBJ year despite the circus. We then discuss Vince's hometown Blazers, the Barkley pick to go to the NBA finals and just how good this Blazers team can be and the ever increasing greatness of Damian Lillard. The weird Golden State Warriors apathy is also on the cards, should there be a worry? (Hint: Probably not). We finish off with more MVP talk as the race heats up towards seasons end, and again just how the legacy of MVP winners are remembered.
    Blazers in 6.

  • VAR Sucks Sometimes, & Other Lovely Futty Things
Vince is back on the SG Pod with takes on takes in the football world. Timbers talk starts us off as we try to keep perspective on the start of the season in the context of a once in a lifetime crazy Timbers schedule, as well as some more chat on the future of the MLS as a whole. VAR comes under the microscope as we try to work out just what the f*** counts as a decision that can/should/could be overturned in the wake of some high profile decisions in the last week both in Europe and the MLS. We finish off with some talk on Liverpool and the EPL title race, as well as the groundbreaking lawsuit brought against US Soccer by the Women's National Team and what it means for the future of womens football.
BONUS: A Sergio Ramos joke is included in this pod. How lucky you all are.

  • Futty Times - EPL Races, UCL Predictions, Timbers + MLS Futures
Shea and Dave dive into the world of football as Dave tries to remain calm as Liverpool struggle in the title race, while Shea is quietly hopeful about Arsenal's hopes to finish in the four. Also on the board is just what the f*** is going on at Chelsea, where the blame lies in the dearly departed Mourinho era at United, Champions League thoughts and predictions, Timbers talk in the wake of the bizarre blizzard game that opened the season, and some musings on the future of the MLS as a whole. As always, brought to you with love and a touch of wine.
**As with the previous episode, apologies for audio issues - they were recorded back to back. Efficiency.
