Aim. This paper is a report of a study conducted to compare risk assessments by psychiatrists and mental health nurses following an episode of self-harm.
Background. Self-harm assessments by nurses and psychiatrists are similar in terms of overall content, but risk assessment may vary by professional discipline. To our knowledge previous researchers have not compared the positive predictive value of risk assessments by nurses and psychiatrists, the factors that inform those assessments in clinical practice or the management of people assessed as being at high risk.
Results. The positive predictive value of risk assessments for self-harm repetition was 25% (95% CI: 20–31) among nurses and 23% (95% CI: 13–37) among psychiatrists. There was strong agreement on factors associated with high risk assessment by both professions. Following assessment of high risk, psychiatrists were much more likely than nurses to admit people for inpatient treatment (RR = 5·6, 95% CI: 3·2–9·7). This difference remained highly statistically significant after controlling for case-mix differences (RR = 4·3, 95% CI: 2·4–7·7).

Jim Smith - From structural draftsman, to the restaurant industry, general contractor and environmental contracting, Jim is also a decades long entrepreneur whose goal is the help people start a new business, build their security, worry less and live more. My reason for building my own business network is I realize the fact that Contracting and working for others was not building a security for me and I saw the residual income as a way to build a retirement income and get paid for the work I do get paid for the work I've done for a lifetime instead of for a short time I've met some very successful people and I'm following a system that is created 230 millionaires through a business everybody needs and everybody can afford. I am making a living and a difference.

  • SpotLight on LegalShield, MLM's & Darlene A Quincy
Darlene A Quincy, "My journey with LegalShield started about 16 years ago as a member. My late husband, David Quincy, was introduced to this company by a fellow friend, Jay Newsome. We thought we were doing him a favor by signing up for the membership. Mr. Quincy was a LegalShield Associate for 14 years, until Monday, March 24, 2014, following his briefing, a tragedy changed our lives forever. David was stabbed from behind by my nephew, (my sister’s son). David passed away from his injuries, and my nephew who is still in the legal system was later diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia.
David’s only mission was to help a young man, who had been lost and was hurting because of the loss of his own mother and father due to cancer. See, hurt people hurt other people, and our goal was to have him come live with us to help get him back on a better path.
In the face of adversity, I had a choice to make. Would I continue what David often spoke about leaving a legacy for his family or would I allow someone else to live out the dreams he placed on his vision board.
This personal story is now my testimony because I needed legal advice immediately. One day I decided to attend Mr. Alistair Edwards’ group. The following Monday, I showed up to the Monday night briefing and declared I would be carrying forward the Quincy legacy.
I had no idea how I could do this with an already full load, working full time, having children to take care of, participating in activities and so much more. I’m busy, so are others too, but they find a way.
This business allowed me to grow in so many ways by doing a few repeatable things. I jumped by faith into this business…   [ Source ]

...and other mental health disorders are stigmaitzed in the workplace, in the family and in society in general. Out goal at Healing in the SpotLight will focus on all the phases of bipolar and mental health disorders. In the episode we discuss this with Amanda Doane who lives in Upstate NY with her mom. This episode focuses on the discover phase. The moment in time when Amanda discovers she has bipolar. We continue to explore people with Bipolar and Mental Health Disorders for Healing-With-ART.org.
Communication, Education & Transportaion - One of the primary things we noticed is that when we started openly discussing her disorder that we found MANY more people with bipolar than we ever knew. Workmates, friends, and family have talked with us about another friend or family member with bipolar. Unfortunately, many people with bipolar suffer in silence, never seek help and die. This is a new era and we have to ATTACK the disorder by simply communicating more about it. In our first year, we will visit a new city, school or other nonprofits biweekly, to simply talk about the disorder. We will use discreet website forms, forums, and social media to keep our communications 24x7x365.  We will create a club and support methods.
