Spreadsheet Fantasy Basketball

Breaking down my first fantasy basketball cash league draft of the season: an 8-team, 9-cat H2H league with 160 players drafted and me picking at No. 4.

I go pick-by-pick through my team and the thinking behind each selection, starting with Luka Dončić at 4 and including Cooper Flagg, Austin Reaves, Amen Thompson, LaMelo Ball, Trae Young, Kyrie Irving, Brandon Miller, Matas Buzelis and more.

I also look around the draft board at some of my favorite values, picks I thought went too early, and how league formats should shape strategy.

Then I finish with some early preseason fantasy takeaways, including roles, rotations and late-round players worth watching as we get closer to opening night.

I jumped into Josh Lloyd’s 9-cat H2H mock draft for Locked On Fantasy Basketball and came away with Cade Cunningham at 6, LaMelo Ball at 19 and Devin Booker at 30.

In this episode, I break down my full 14-player team, including Brandon Miller, Keyonte George, Naz Reid, Ausar Thompson, Jaden McDaniels, John Collins, Mark Williams, Jusuf Nurkic, Cam Johnson, Tre Jones and Morez Johnson.

I also go through some of my favorite values from the draft, players I thought went too high, and how I’m thinking about roster construction, including how to evaluate "risky" players like Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard and Ja Morant when they end up on the same team.

Full mock draft recap in 18 minutes.

Using current Fantrax ADP for the 2026-27 fantasy basketball season, I’m putting myself On the Clock. Jalen Johnson at 10, Chet Holmgren at 25, Deni Avdija at 38, Dyson Daniels at 60 and Payton Pritchard at 80. Who am I taking instead?

I break down why I prefer guys like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Josh Giddey, Brandon Miller, Matas Buzelis and Ausar Thompson, plus late-round decisions on Neemias Queta, AJ Mitchell and Saddiq Bey.

All in under 15 minutes.

Dynasty time. I’m breaking down some of my favorite NBA fantasy basketball buy-low targets, including LaMelo Ball, Darius Garland, Reed Sheppard, Jalen Suggs, Mark Williams, Ja Morant and Tyler Herro.

Then I walk through trades I’ve actually made this offseason in a real-money dynasty league I won last year, including deals for Tyrese Haliburton, Miles Bridges, John Collins and Naz Reid, plus some fantasy basketball meta around contending vs rebuilding, future picks and knowing your league.

Welcome to the first ever episode of Spreadsheet Fantasy Basketball!

I’m breaking down my favorite picks after pick 100 on Yahoo and Fantrax, from players I’m drafting around the 100-120 range to true late-round fliers going 120+.

We get into Zach LaVine, Mark Williams, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green, John Collins, Brandin Podziemski, Paul Reed, DeMar DeRozan, Tre Jones, Jrue Holiday and Cam Johnson, plus why upside doesn’t always have to mean drafting the next young breakout.
