The sermon focuses on the theme of Heaven, specifically the depiction of the new Heaven and new Earth as described in Revelation 21. Here's a synopsis of the key points:
The Temporary Nature of Life: The sermon begins by emphasizing the importance of studying Heaven. It reminds the audience that life is temporary and will eventually come to an end, citing verses from Psalms that urge reflection on the fleeting nature of life. The question is posed: Why is it beneficial to live with the understanding that life is temporary?
The Revelation of a New Heaven and Earth: The sermon then explores Revelation 21, which describes a new Heaven and a new Earth. This passage reveals God's plan to make everything new, including the physical world. The Holy City, the new Jerusalem, is depicted as coming down from Heaven, and God will dwell with His people. It highlights the promise of God wiping away tears, ending death, mourning, crying, and pain.
Transformation of Bodies: The sermon touches on the concept of resurrected bodies for those in Heaven, referencing Philippians 3:21. It explains that these transformed bodies will be like Jesus' glorious body after His resurrection, and individuals will retain their memories and relationships.
Intimacy with God: The sermon emphasizes the intimacy with God that awaits in Heaven, where there will be no barriers between individuals and God. It quotes author and pastor Chip Ingram, describing a profound understanding of God's will and love in Heaven.
The Vision of Revelation 22: Revelation 22 is highlighted, depicting a river of the water of life, the tree of life, and the absence of curses and darkness. It emphasizes that there will be nations and kings in the new Heaven and new Earth, and individuals will have roles and responsibilities, including leadership roles, in this new realm.
The sermon aims to provide a clearer picture of Heaven and encourages the audience to reflect on the implications of these teachings for their lives. It prompts questions about the audience's thoughts, feelings, and understanding of Heaven and its impact on their perspective and purpose.
Greetings and welcome to "You Matter," a Springhills Podcast! In this week's "Going Deeper" episode, we delve into the theme of living a purpose-driven life. The foremost calling on the hearts of Christians is to actively engage in the world, sharing the transformative Word of God, which is symbolized as the "sword of the spirit," the Bible.
In today's podcast episode, we begin with a foundational exploration of this concept, featuring insights from Pastor Tom. Later, we'll take an even more profound dive into the subject, hearing a compelling testimony from Pastor Trey Freeman.
Our core message is clear: Christians are summoned to a mission. Those who choose to ignore this call may not fully embrace the offering of Christ. A parallel can be drawn to the character Jyn Erso in the Star Wars movie "Rogue One." Jyn, a war-weary individual who has experienced profound loss, initially seeks to move forward without addressing the wounds in her heart. However, when she is invited to participate in the grander narrative of battling the oppressive Galactic Empire, she realizes that it's easy to remain disengaged if you keep your gaze fixed downward.
As Christians, we are urged to lift our eyes and embrace our divine calling to take action. This podcast episode serves as a source of inspiration and conviction, motivating you to take significant steps in your journey and to live in accordance with the teachings of Christ.
May God bless you abundantly on your mission!
Dear Church Family,
Today, we gather to explore the profound importance of our mission as followers of Jesus Christ, guided by the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:14-21.
Verse 14: "Christ's love compels us to action, transforming our lives. It's the essence of our faith, rooted in His sacrifice that altered our destiny and purpose."
Verse 15: "We're no longer living for ourselves but for the One who gave His life for us. Our mission is devotion and service to our Redeemer."
Verse 16: "Our mission changes our perspective. We no longer see people in the flesh but as souls in need of redemption."
Verse 17: "Our mission calls us to participate in restoring God's creation. Through Christ, we are made new, bringing hope, healing, and reconciliation."
Verse 18: "Our mission is grounded in God's nature, reconciling us through Christ and entrusting us with the ministry of reconciliation."
Verse 19: "God's heart is reconciliation, not condemnation. Our mission is to declare forgiveness and grace through Christ to all."
Verse 20: "We are Christ's ambassadors, making His appeal to the world, urging others to be reconciled to God through faith."
Verse 21: "Our mission is anchored in the great exchange: Christ took our sin, and we become the righteousness of God."
Christ's love compels us to be on mission. We live for Him, see through His love, and bring reconciliation to a broken world. Let's embrace our role as ambassadors of Christ, participating in His divine mission to bring hope and salvation. May God bless and use us as instruments of His grace. Take time and personal reflection after this podcast episode to consider many of the opportunity to serve our community and be on mission for Jesus Christ. It is the way that we were designed, and it is the way we must be in order for his kingdom to come, and his will to be done. Amen.

"Paradise"
Greetings and a warm welcome to "You Matter," a Spring Hills podcast. In today's episode, we delve into the recent weekend sermon titled "Jesus Humility." Pastor Tevis explores the intricate concepts surrounding the attainment of genuine humility, both for personal growth and for effectively advancing God's kingdom.
The notion of humility may appear straightforward at first glance, but it is a complex and multifaceted concept. Humility exists along a continuum, with potential pitfalls on either extreme. On one side, there's the perilous precipice of excessive pride, which represents an overextension of humility. This can manifest as fake humility, where individuals feign attentiveness but are merely awaiting their turn to speak, showing a lack of genuine respect for others' perspectives.
Conversely, on the opposite end of the spectrum, we find ourselves in the realm of what can be termed as "worthless humility." This occurs when we mistakenly embrace our sinful nature excessively, failing to recognize the presence of Christ within us. Instead, we are encouraged to walk confidently in our faith, acknowledging the Christ dwelling within us.
We trust that you will find this episode enlightening and enriching. Thank you for joining us!
Love. Live. Lead. | Part 5
We continue our study of love, live, and lead like Jesus. Matthew 3:13-17 is the story of Jesus’ baptism. Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” In the sermon, Pastor Tevis depicted how this event showed us how Jesus, the God of the universe, humbled Himself as He allowed Himself to be baptized by John the Baptist. Do you have an example of someone who has shown humility in their lives? Alternatively, do you have an example of someone who’s actions and or attitude revealed them to be anything but humble? What are some of the tangible ways we identify humility in others around us?
