It is often assumed and taught that when Jesus died on the cross, there was a period when the Father turned away, essentially forsaking Jesus as he bore the penalty for humanity's sins. Jesus Himself cried out, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" But did God forsake Jesus? What did Jesus mean by asking that question? In this sermon, Elder David Brown takes a closer look to help us understand the purpose of Jesus' statement and avoid some dangerous assumptions about Jesus and the cross.
