Springfield First Church of the Nazarene Podcast

We conclude this series on world religions by looking at the belief systems of our friends the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses.

In contrast to the three major Western or "Abrahamic" religions, we look at the two major Eastern religions of Buddhism and Hinduism which account for 1.5 billion people.

We look at the youngest and fastest growing major world religion founded by Muhammad (570-632 AD) who was born in the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia and whose followers are known as Muslims.

We look at the largest religion in the world in terms of adherents and the tenets of the Christian faith as we continue in our world religions series.

We obviously are not Jewish, but we wouldn't be Christians if it were not for Judaism as we begin this series on religions of the world.

Our speaker is Judith Pothier who serves as the Prayer Coordinator for Springfield Church. She has her local minister's license through the church as well as a Master of Science degree. She is also the Chair of the Housing and Community Services Agency Board of Commissioners of Lane County.

When God created us with free will, He did so with the ability to choose right from wrong and to follow Him or not.

If the first "fall of man" occurred in Genesis chapter three and as a result God kicked Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, then "the second fall" is when we kicked God out of our society and out of our lives.

Those who teach that backsliding is not possible have not read their Bibles carefully, for if God's chosen people can forsake the God they once knew and served, then so can we.

We welcome to Springfield Church Rev. Ron and Jane Tyler. The Tyler's pastored this church from 1987 - 1994. Rev. Tyler is ordained through the Wesleyan Church and consults with churches all across the country.
