    Notes from this episode
Having moved through a time of praise (Outer Court) and Spirit filled worship and intercession (Holy Place), we now move into a time of intimate worship and fellowship (Holy of Holies). THE HOLY OF HOLIES THE ARK OF THE COVENANT / THE MERCY SEAT The Holy of Holies is the meeting place where God and man meet. This is the place of intimate worship and fellowship. This also reminds us of what the Feast of Tabernacles is all about. God created man to enjoy fellowship with him but due to sin, that fellowship was broken. It is only through the death and resurrection of Yeshua that our fellowship has been restored and it will be at his second coming that we will then experience the fullness of this feast. I John 1:3 Our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Yeshua the Messiah. The level of intimacy will depend on your relationship with God. The more intimate the relationship, the more intimate the worship. It is through our times of communion with God that a friendship develops. It was said of Moses that he and God spoke as friends at the tent of meeting. Exodus 33:11 So ADONAI spoke with Moses face to face (pānîm ‘el- pānîm), as a man speaks with his friend. We can’t worship someone we don’t know. Friendships take time and effort to develop. Our relationship with ADONAI can only be developed through much time in his word and in prayer. Prayer is not just a monologue but rather a dialogue and we are able to talk to him at any time. Have you ever just thanked him for the beauty of his creation when you see a beautiful flower? Have you shared your feelings and emotions with him? Have you shared your joy and excitement with him? These are all ways in which one develops a relationship. Yes, he is our friend however he is still God and is therefore holy. We need to treat him with reverence and awe and not bring him down to gutter level. How do the following two scriptures apply in your life? There is a right and a wrong way to approach God and the Bible gives us clear details in that regard. THE ARK BROUGHT TO JERUSALEM (The ark represents the presence of God) DOING IT MAN’S WAY 2 Samuel 6 6 David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the Lord of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim. 3 And they carried the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. And Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart, 4 with the ark of God, and Ahio went before the ark. Uzzah and the Ark 5 And David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals. 6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. 7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error, and he died there beside the ark of God. 8 And David was angry because the Lord had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzzah to this day. 9 And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and he said, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” 10 So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 11 And the ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and all his household. DOING IT GOD’S WAY 1 Chronicles 15:16-24, 27, 28 16 David also commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers as the singers who should play loudly on musical instruments, on harps and lyres and cymbals, to raise sounds of joy. 17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari, their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah; 18 and with them their brothers of the second order, Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-edom and Jeiel. 19 The singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound bronze cymbals; 20 Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play harps according to Alamoth; 21 but Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to lead with lyres according to the Sheminith. 22 Chenaniah, leader of the Levites in music, should direct the music, for he understood it.23 Berechiah and Elkanah were to be gatekeepers for the ark.24 Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, should blow the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah were to be gatekeepers for the ark. 27 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as also were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers and Chenaniah the leader of the music of the singers. And David wore a linen ephod. 28 So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, to the sound of the horn, trumpets, and cymbals, and made loud music on harps and lyres. God had given strict instructions that the Ark of the Covenant (which represented the presence of God) was to be carried by the Levites. Numbers 4:15; Deuteronomy 31:9; Joshua 3:3,6. This now brings us to the end of the series on the Tabernacle. I sincerely trust that this has encouraged you to develop an intimate relationship with God. Please join me again as we look at a new series entitled “Abraham’s Act of Worship”.

    Notes from this episode
THE GOLDEN ALTAR OF INCENSE PART 2 THE HORN OF PRAYER Prayer can be likened to an orchestra. One of the most obvious facts that we see when we look at an orchestra, is that there are a variety of instruments which are played by a number of musicians. And if we had to go further and look at the music score, we will notice music written for the various instruments however when all is combined, we have a harmonious sound. DIFFERENT KINDS OF PRAYER Just as we find a variety of instruments in an orchestra not to mention the variety of music that an orchestra plays, so we find various types of prayer. I Timothy 2:1 Therefore, first of all I urge that requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made on behalf of all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Ephesians 6:18 …praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all saints. Prayers of Thanksgiving, Praise & Worship (Appreciation, gratefulness, thanks, praise) Prayers of Confession & Repentance Prayers of Meditation (Contemplation, worship, musings) Prayers of Supplication (Entreaty to the Lord, Cry for Mercy) Prayers of Petition (Making known our requests) Prayers of Warfare Prayers of Intercession (Born out of the heart of God and taken back to God) THE HORN OF INTERCESSION Intercession literally means to come in between—between God and those for whom you are praying. Rom. 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Rom. 8:34…who (Jesus) is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Examples of intercession, Abraham intercedes for Sodom Gen. 18:22-33 and Moses intercedes for Israel Ex. 32:11-13; 33:12-16. The intercessor is God-centered and that which is born out of the heart of God is taken back to God. Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. 31 Therefore I have poured out my indignation upon them. An Intercessor is the one who builds the wall and stands in the gap. Isaiah 59:16 He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him. As long as there is an intercessor there is hope. INTERCEDE FOR: Those in authority – leaders in the church, government, family and workplace My family – both immediate and extended family members My church – pastors, leaders, members and missionaries My community – people in your city, nation, and world My relationships – friends and co-workers Meditate upon Ephesians 6:18 and 1 Timothy 2:1 and then consider how your prayer life measures up. What does it mean to be a ‘holy and royal priesthood’ (I Peter 2:5,9)? How often do you pray and intercede for others?
