Here is a relatively short and truly heart-warming sermon of Spurgeon’s.  It was recorded at the request of a listener. We feel in it the freedom of the preacher during a Thursday night address, as he speaks from of the glory of Christ.  There is a real sense of humility conveyed here, as the subject overwhelms the preacher.

Here, in the strongest terms, we see good reason for every Preacher and church worker to have just one goal: to glorify the Lord Jesus.  Many of us explore what seem to be the varied topics of Scripture, without a clear goal to glorify Jesus in every address. Let’s seek to be like Paul at Corinth:

“I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:2).  Amen.

Here, in looking at Abraham’s descendants, who were yet to be born, we see that faith is spiritual eyesight. Upon this foundation, Spurgeon expounds the fact that faith is made capable of seeing, not only what is invisible to our human eyes, but even what, as yet, has not come into being.
