Things are a little bit different on this week's episode of Squad Depth.
The 'NWSL Halfway Hotline' has been switched on, and, in turn, 12 journalists (yes, 12!) have phoned in to talk to Theo about one team each from around the country. Each person was given just a few minutes to unpack the storylines, dive into some analysis, marvel at the MVP frontrunners, and give some predictions before they bid the hotline farewell. Expect vibe checks, head coaching hot takes & more. Catch up on the first half of the 2023 NWSL season in just 50 minutes of chat!
The women's football landscape is a beautiful universe filled with hard-working and passionate creators. But it's not easy. So, please do show all the people that joined the show some love. Not only for hopping on the hotline but for covering their local and national soccer teams with aplomb. Doing this week's show reminded me of how fun talking about the NWSL should be. Community. That is what it's all about. Go follow their work. And enjoy.

Welcome back to Squad Depth with Theo Lloyd-Hughes.
This week, Theo virtually hangs out with footballer Emma Regan. The 23-year-old Canadian is currently in her first professional season in Denmark with the team HB Køge, 45 minutes South of Copenhagen.
Growing up in Vancouver, Emma glided through the Canada Youth National Team ranks in the 2010s before attending the University of Texas for five seasons. While in Austin, Emma adapted her game and helped the school return to glory after many years of searching for a trophy. We hope you enjoy Emma's footy story, and getting to know her a little better.

Welcome back to Squad Depth with Theo Lloyd-Hughes.
This week Theo hung out with Kayla Thompson, who is currently the starting goalkeeper for Toluca Femenil in Liga MX. But she's also so much more than that. An idiosyncratic and inspiring figure, Kayla is working on multiple avenues of developing women's soccer in the United States and around the world.
Kayla started playing soccer in her hometown of Austin, Texas in the mid-00s and quickly took off as a talented young shot-stopper. After competing as a student-athlete at both the University of West Virginia and Brown University, she turned professional in 2022 with the Icelandic club FC Grotta.
Bright and industrious, it was whilst overseas that she started her own sports consulting company and helped lead a research project into player well-being in women's soccer.
In 2023, Kayla, along with four other Austinites, co-founded the soccer club ATX Woso with the intention of becoming the first-ever USL-W team in the Lone Star State in 2024. You can learn more about ATX Woso here.

The very first episode of Squad Depth with Theo Lloyd-Hughes.
To begin the series, Katelyn Best joins Theo to talk about her soccer journey. From discovering soccer spaces in Portland in the 2010s, to eventually becoming the Editorial Content Manager at Angel City FC in the NWSL. The conversation touches on the feeling of "importance" that comes from witnessing players like Tobin Heath playing live. How do you balance enjoying football and also trying to cover it?
