Welcome to a brand new episode of the Squared Circle Podcast. Over the last month, there's drama brewing in the podcasting community. I usually don't talk drama but when I'm having someone talk shit about me and discredit me on a TikTok live where I could not defend myself (I don't have 1k friends), that's not ok and I do not tolerate disrespect. It's easier to run to TikTok than face the backlash of twitter friends and others. This is my side of the story. I got pulled in and thrown under the bus for no reason. I excused myself out of this drama only to be brought back in. My decision in deciding on a friendship was already made for me. Have a listen. This is the last time and only time I'll talk about it. All my reasons are in the podcast. I will no longer be associated with Botched Spots and Chair Shots. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to the Squared Circle Podcast! I am your host Marie Shadows! And on this episode, I'm talking all about Mercedes Mone debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17. But first, make sure to grab your copy of my wrestling planner, One More Match from Amazon! Link: One More Match: A Wrestling Planner 2023: Shadows, Marie: Amazon.com: Books (If you need a link to your area or country, please let me know!)
PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST WITH AN OPEN MIND! Thanks!
Well, she gets to Wrestle Kingdom 17 after Tam vs Kairi Sane for IWGP Women’s Championship and her debut is overwhelming and over performative. New Japan Pro Wrestling doesn’t have the WWE magic to keep someone looking like a million bucks when they lack skill in other aspects of wrestling (using it as an umbrella term). New Japan doesn’t care about how sexy you can get, how much make up you wear, or even how many hip swivels you do. All Japan cares about is wrestling. Awesome entrances and gear are one thing but once that bell rings, they care about the wrestling.
Mercedes Mone automatically debuted and challenged Kairi Sane. That’s an easy night for her since both have history in WWE. They’ve fought each other before.
I’m concerned about Mercedes Mone being in Japan without having some matches and thinking she could be on their level. Japanese women train differently than American women. Japanese women go through the same dojo system as the Japanese men. American women train at wrestling schools but it’s nothing like the dojo system. You can be called a wrestler and have matches after a 12-week training course (about 3 months) and that’s if you can understand everything under that deadline. The wrestling training camps are so short.
I don’t like complaining about debuts but this one rubbed me the wrong way. Please listen to the podcast episode with an open mind.
I used to like Sasha Banks; I just don’t like Mercedes Mone.
I was emotionally invested in Will Ospreay vs Kenny Omega just on the little bad blood interaction that emerge and their names alone. Both men have solidified their names in this business. So, I honestly didn’t need an absolute fundamental story of hero vs villain or baby face vs heel. Kenny Omega did a wonderful job as the villain, and he was deeply rooted in remaining as such while Will Ospreay tried to make this match very fight feel with humanity weaved into it.
Kenny Omega revealed in an interview that before he left in New Japan in 2019 and now, we know he helped started AEW. But before that, he pulled Jay White and Will Ospreay aside and told them that New Japan is going to need people to step up while he’s gone.
Think of this as the time John Cena tells the story of how he got his spotlight position when he mentions that he grabbed the brass nuts since Vince McMahon was looking for a new star.
Anyway. Jay White is the first to shoot down that rumor. Will Ospreay remembered that talk and immediately had mentioned his disdain for Kenny Omega some years after that when Omega threw Ospreay under the bus during a twitter confrontation. Then Ospreay and the United Empire appeared on AEW TV to which, of course, Omega being an EVP had to get the last word in during their promo battle.
What I didn’t like was the constant, you couldn’t fill my shoes. Will Ospreay is leaps and bounds better than Kenny Omega thus making Will Ospreay vastly unique. Kenny Omega is known for wrestling in the states but on the indies. He had a tryout with WWE long long long ago but is known for the indies. He then moved to Japan and started in DDT (Dream Dramatic Team) where he met Kota Ibushi — his Golden Lover teammate — and then Kota Ibushi brought in Kenny Omega to New Japan Pro Wrestling. While at NJPW, Kenny won various titles, feuded with Okada (those are the ONLY matches we ever talk about), and was once the leader of Bullet Club while forming The Elite (Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson) in the club.
Will Ospreay matured and accepted his flaws and past mistakes. You can’t change the past; you can learn from it, however. Will Ospreay gave his life to New Japan Pro Wrestling. Literally. While IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, he fought Shingo Takagi and Shingo did his Made in Japan move through a table which broke Ospreay’s neck.

Welcome to the Squared Circle Podcast! I am your host Marie Shadows! I am reviewing Monday Night RAW from December 19, 2022. More shocking suprises are turning up on WWE programming. I review two things: Intergender Wrestling match of Rhea Ripley vs Akira Tozawa and Jonah showing up in WWE. Jonah had a great run in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The same Jonah that defeated Okada during the G1 and the Japanese fans didn't like that. I talk about Jonah's return and yeah, I'm more attached to Jonah than Bronson Reed.
Hello! Welcome to the Squared Circle Podcast episode called: No Contest in Queens? Kenta vs Low Ki. I am your host Marie Shadows. Last night, December 17th was House of Glory. You could watch it on Fite TV. I was interested in Kenta vs Low Ki. These two wrestlers are not only fighters but warriors who carved out amazing career paths. The match was clean. No spots. No 1,000 moves. Just a wrestling match was super evenly matched and both men were trying to figure out who is the best. A nice match became ruined with a lame decision and interference, and I break it down from a business point of view and fan point of view.

Welcome to the Squared Circle Podcast! I am your host Marie Shadows. Today, we're talking about something interesting and very cutthroat in the world of pro wrestling. While WWE is the juggernaut of pro wrestling, it can easily release or fire anyone at will because they are based in an at-hire state like Connecticut. So, your job at WWE isn't always safe. It was revealed to me that Mandy Rose did more than post the occasional sexy bikini photos on her BRAND ARMY page. There were very risqué videos between her and possibly her man. However, these video and photos were behind a paywall. That type of content you can control. However, you can't control what happens on a livestream on twitch. I bring this up because it felt like a pick and choose situation. With livestreams, a wrestler contracted with WWE should be careful on a lot of things they do. Anything can happen at any time. Placing controlled content behind a payway is not only the property of content creator but that person knows what's going up. I think they should have suspended Mandy rather than releasing her. Also, my tweet got popular because I put two and two together. Before all her stuff leaked, which is in violation of her rights as the content owner, Mandy dealth with the death of her brother and in a recent interview mention she wanted to start a family. And I knew that blaming the sexy content was an easy escape and a clickbait title for "journalists" to put out. WWE didn't release a statment yet to wish Mandy well in her future in endovours. I ask a lot of questions and only talk about what I know in this episode. Thanks for listening!
