Donald Trump has fired Attorney General Pam Bondi in a major shake-up within the US Justice Department. The announcement was made via Truth Social after months of reportedly strained relations.
Bondi, a long-time Trump ally, faced criticism over her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and her failure to pursue legal action against key political opponents like James Comey and Letitia James.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has now been named interim Attorney General. Trump praised Bondi for her service, calling her a “loyal ally,” while confirming she will move to a private sector role.
Reports suggest Lee Zeldin could be the next permanent Attorney General. The move comes amid a broader reshuffle in Trump’s administration, raising fresh concerns over the politicization of the Justice Department.
