Squid Game (2021) - Season 2

Listen Later

We're kicking off 2025 (and season 2 of this podcast!) with Season 2 of the smash hit Squid Game.

If we have any complaints, it's that this season ended on a cliffhanger. We think they did a great job keeping the emotional intensity in season 2 even though audience knows what's going to happen during the games. And, interestingly, one of the people we're following through the games is one of the soldiers. It seems like their side of things is just as messed up as the players.

Rachael has an interesting theory that many of the people in the game were brought in by the Front Man to test Gi-hun's resolve and his belief that people are still good. There's his best friend, a mother and son, a pregnant woman and her (ex)boyfriend. And with the voting after EVERY GAME, it shows that these people are here by their choice.

Kerri's theory is that the In-ho brought Gi-hun back and allowed him to live so that the Games can be brought down. Or maybe he just wants Gi-hun to take over.

Evelyn thinks the VIPs aren't even involved this time and In-ho is fully funding this as his own experiment.

What we want from season 3: -Flashbacks to In-ho's time in the game as a player. -How/why did In-ho come back as the Front Man? -What's going to happen with the people who stayed behind when Gi-hun and that group went off to take down the games? -What exactly does the boat captain know about the games? -What's the deal with that weird shaman lady?

Coming in February, we'll be discussing the 2019 reboot Roswell, New Mexico. It is now streaming on Netflix. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoaR_ih9Q0M
