Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has announced the extension of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, until March next year. The grant, valued at R370 per month was introduced at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussions are now underway for a potential transition to a Basic Income Grant (BIG) in the long term.
