Baba Kalu Ji as an accountant for the region is keen to have Guru Ji learn maths too so they can work in the same field. At 5 years old, Guru Ji goes to Their first teacher, Gopal Pandha, who teaches maths. On the first day, Guru Ji learns very quickly and so the next day Guru Ji is taught separately. Gopal Pandha tries to teach Guru Ji and Guru Ji asks the deepest questions back. Guru Ji reveals a shabad (words) to help Gopal Pandha get out of the bondages of attachment (jaal mohu ghas mas kar mat kaagad kar saar).

Baba Kalu Ji is unsure why his newly born son was named Nanak and wants him to be named such that he is recognised as a Kshatriya. Bhai Bala Ji, a dear companion and Sikh of Guru Nanak Dev Ji travels to meet the 2nd Guru, Guru Angad Dev Ji.
