It is totally possible to change your life with affirmations and the apostrophe saw! Using affirmations and the apostrophe saw is life mind candy, giving you a burst of energy and helping you change your mindset.
What You Think About You Bring About
It is so true that what you think about you bring about. Your thoughts ultimately become your actions. The Think – Speak – Act philosophy affects each one of us. And whether our thoughts are positive or negative absolutely affects the actions we take and the results we get.
If you’ve ever said:
* I can’t ever seem to catch a break
* Everything I do gets jacked up
* I’ll never find true love
* I always say dumb things
All of those are affirmations….albeit negative ones. When you say things like that you are thinking negative and speaking negative, which will ultimately bring about negative.
Positive Thinking = Positive Speaking = Positive Action
When you think positive, you will automatically start speaking positive. And those positive thoughts and words will lead to positive actions. That’s where positive affirmations come in. Affirmations help with your thinking and speaking and ultimately your actions. When you use affirmations, you positively reprogram and rewire your brain. That’s the science of neuroplasticity.
What’s an Affirmation?
Affirmations are positive statements that describe something that is already complete. They help overcome negative thoughts, provide energy and motivation, and improve your mindset.
You can use affirmations to:
* Get rid of a bad habit
* Improve productivity
* Deal with negative emotions like anger, impatience, and frustration
* Improve self-esteem
* Help increase confidence
* Motivate you to finish a project
In Addition To Affirmations
In episode 9, I talked about limiting beliefs and the labels that create them. You can use affirmations to change your life by getting rid of those labels and limiting beliefs. Do the exercise in episode 9 to identify your labels and limiting beliefs and then write affirmations to help overcome them.
In episode 10, I talked about breath meditation. In just 10 minutes a day, you can change your life by meditating to help clear your mind. After you meditate each day, you should read your affirmations to help cement them. Because your mind will be clear and receptive to your affirmations, after meditating is the perfect time for your affirmations.
In addition to affirmations, you can also use visualization techniques and goal setting to help change your life. I’ll discuss visualization and goal setting in future episodes.
How To Create Affirmations
There are a ton of different ways to create affirmations. I like using Jack Canfield’s 8-step method. His method is:
* Start with the words “I am.” These are the two most powerful words in the English language.
* Use the present tense.
* State it in the positive. Affirm what you want, not what you don’t want.
* Keep it brief.
* Make it specific.
* Include an action word ending with -ing.
* Include at least one dynamic emotion or feeling word.
* Make affirmations for yourself, not others.
Here are some examples of affirmations using Jack Canfield’s steps:
