“O Beauty ever ancient, ever new”

From Confessions, Book X, Chapter 27:

“Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient and ever new! Late have I loved you!”

This famous declaration captures Augustine’s profound realization that God is the ultimate source of beauty—timeless, renewing, and intimately close—even though Augustine initially sought comfort elsewhere.

With eyes of faith, with eyes of the heart, we come to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord. Worship God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in the beauty of holiness.
