St. Aidan's Anglican Church, Kansas City - weekly talks episodes

  • What happened at Pentecost - Fr. Michael Flowers
The People and the Mission of God, #1 of 15. In the fullness of time, when Abba sent his Word, his eternally begotten, incorporeal Son, into the world, made flesh, all humankind was being gathered into the bosom of the Father. And in the darkest hour, when "God from God, Light from Light, true God from God, begotten not made, of one being with the Father" was handed over into the hands of an angry mob, forgiveness was granted. Our Abba was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not counting their sins against them (2 Cor. 5:19).
All this was worked out within the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, "before the ages began, and manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel" (2 Tim. 1:9,10). The sharing of this gospel simply brings to light what has already transpired before the ages began, before the foundations of the created order.
God's people are called into God's mission. In following Jesus, we lay aside our agendas and agree to be transformed as we step into communion with the Trinity. Out of this abiding fellowship, we become his servants, shining like stars in the universe. We are, thus, salt and light to a decaying world, holding out the Word of Life in Christ. This is the mission of God.
