St Basil's Church

The standoff between Pharaoh and Moses is a battle in a particular place and time. Yet the forces at work behind the Egyptian empire and Pharaoh’s pride, transcend time and place. Jonah explains how we are called, like the Israelites, to set up tables of feasting in the midst of societal collapse. We are called to copy Jesus and also look towards the eternal heavenly supper where every empire will fall and Jesus’s perfect reign will be accomplished.

Dan continues our series, looking at God’s plan to deliver the Israelites from slavery into the promised land by sending Moses. When God asks us to participate in the deliverance of others He patiently responds to our concerns whilst we prepare our hearts, but ultimately He requires our obedience.

Beginning our series in Exodus, Becky explores the opening chapters, where we discover that even when God seems absent, He is quietly at work - preserving life, working through ordinary faithful people and preparing the way for deliverance. Through Moses’ story, we’re invited to recognise God’s presence in our own lives and trust in His faithfulness, even when we can’t see what lies ahead.

For Harvest Sunday, Pete James looks at how this festival reminds us to live sacramentally in the world: receiving the world as gift, rejoicing in the grace of God and returning our lives and gifts back to God in surrender.

John continues this mini vision series, looking at serving, who the church is called to be and the part each of us has to play.

Dan speaks about our vision for giving at St Basil’s, inviting us to become joyful worshippers, wise stewards and generous patrons.

On Vision Sunday, we look back at the journey God has been taking us on, from the uncertainty of leaving our first site to the growing hunger and faith we’re seeing across our church family. As we step into a new season, we’re asking what it looks like to build our lives and our church wholeheartedly on the presence of God - becoming a people who hunger for more, carry His presence wherever we go, and hold what He’s given us with surrendered hearts and open hands.

Clive concludes our Ephesians series by showing that the call, in chapter 6, for us to ‘stand’ in the spiritual battle is built on the book’s previous themes. We see that the battle centres on the gospel of love and that God has equipped us in Christ to prevail in the struggle

As we discover that we are deeply connected to one another, we’re invited to move beyond simply knowing the gospel to embodying it together, allowing the life of the church to become a visible expression of God’s kingdom in the world.
