"He was to be named, and is, Emmanuel — God is with us. And all of this we focus on Mary, her call and her yes," Father Perry tells us for our celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. "That's the beginning. Where we need to end up is how are we called, how are we chosen by God? How does God dwell in us and in our lives? God is there. And God wants to be as real for us as he was for Mary; and expects from us that we would share the good news, as did Mary."

The greatest gift and promise is right there before us in person of Jesus. It's embracing the cross. It's loving as we're experiencing the cross. It's being a person who shares the cross and it doesn't make it disbelieve but makes us trust and believe even more."

"If Paul were to write a letter to us, would it be like that one to the Thessalonians? — you beautiful people, you've embraced the faith, you love God, you're Spirit-filled. Yeah. There's a lot of that here. But will there be any woes? Would he say that you are welcoming to people in faith? You bring people in faith, or do you put heavy burdens on them?"
