In a series of three short reflections, we explore how an experience of Go's power and love creates passion and unity.

Today we focus on the beauty of the blessings in the midst of our battles.

Today we focus on the responsibility and blessing of being a disciple of Jesus.

In a time such as this, many are feeling understandably afraid, but this message is all about choosing faith over fear.

In this season of self-isolation and social distancing, many will be feeling alone, anxious and afraid. Yet as Christians we know that we are never alone. While Jesus may not be physically with us, he is actually never far from us.

Jesus reassures us by pointing beyond our present every day lives, whether easy or difficult, to an even greater future to come. He has good plans for your future.

Over the last few weeks and months, we’ve had to re-imagine what it looks like to ‘be the church.’ One friend of mine commented that he feels almost as if the church has finally left the seventeenth century and entered into the twenty-first century, using new technologies to engage with thousands of people across the globe.

Today, we’re going to venture back to the very beginning of the church, to a story recorder in the Book of Acts, where we see that it isn’t so much about attending a place of worship, but about individual people encountering Jesus, being transformed by Him and seeking to like a radically different life in community with other believers, prioritising time to read and understand the Bible, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. We’ll see that one of the effects of this radical Jesus lifestyle was great growth in the church, with thousands more becoming believers.

Perhaps this time of change will challenge us to reevaluate our priorities and to think about what it is we are really about.

Today we go on a journey with two of Jesus' disciples along the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus. We'll see how Jesus comes to meet us on the journey, how he is near to us and always with us, even in our grief, our questions, fears and doubts.

We'll think about how to journey well so that we can recognise Jesus and draw closer to Him.
