He even has a funny story about meeting the one and only Pope Francis!

1. Deny oneself - saying no to selfish desires which is not always material but can be an ideology or a toxic person.  Only when we learn to deny ourselves, can we truely
say yes to God.
2. Take up your cross - The cross Jesus refers to is the collective cross of humanity.  The cross of not being insufficient.  Not being able to do it all. 
3. Follow me - saying yes to ourselves is to gain the whole world.  Sometimes the language of the gospel doesn't make sense, it is paradoxical.

Father,abandon myself into your hands;

Jesus love is perfect.  The thing we think we are bad at, Jesus is perfect at.  Jesus is perfect at justice and mercy.  We should never be anxious or worried because Jesus is perfect.  Take comfort in praying- Don't pull back trust your prayers will be answered.
