On New Year's Day, we had a "combined service": we used the Celtic liturgy from the early service and added a beautiful song by Ray Funk during communion followed by a short homily by Walter Thiessen in which he invited us to consider "compassionate curiosity" as a phrase for the year.

On Christmas Eve we had a candlelight service full of the warmth of friends and family, songs, dance, readings and a thoughtful homily by Jess Williams.

For the Fourth Sunday of Advent, we had a special "Intergenerational Sunday" with stories, instruments for the kids, and a pinata to wrap things up! Janell, Lorna and Victoria took turns sharing "Stories of Intergenerational Joy."

Mark Groleau wonders why he should come back to church after the pandemic and thought it would help if he taught us five steps to throw Jesus off a cliff (or why it's not a new thing that "insiders" like evangelicals have trouble with what Jesus actually wanted).

On the Second Sunday of Advent, Jess Williams gives a talk on the Jeremiah passage that emphasizes that a surface peace that doesn't face real and present divisions is no peace at all.

A beautiful service for the First Sunday of Advent came in the form of our second "communion liturgy Sunday." With music, readings and a homily on hope by Rachael Barham, we ushered in the season together.

Today we had our first "2nd Breakfast" since the pandemic began. After a potluck breakfast, Jess and Alex introduced a "Blue Skies" exercise to imagine how we might all be most interested in getting more involved.

Walter used the painting that arrived recently from Krista Heide to talk about our commitment to being "rooted in the way of Jesus." The powerpoint shows some pictures from the SSU week at Camp Chiputneticook, which Walter used as an example of the importance of rootedness and commitment.
